Who we are

ORGANIZATION

The Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte County, Inc was incorporated in 1997 and is a member organization of the Boys & Girls Club of America.  A Board of Directors consisting of community, business and civic leaders governs the club.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte County is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

VISION STATEMENT

The Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte County will be recognized as the premiere youth development agency for providing the most accessible life enhancing quality programs and services throughout Charlotte County.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national programs have taken members from the Clubhouse to the White House; from the games room to the corporate boardroom; from the high school orchestra to Carnegie Hall.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County has a lineup of tested and proven recognized programs that address today’s most pressing youth issues, teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life.

As the needs of our children and their families continue to change — so will the dynamics of our programs and services. Every day, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County strive to improve each child’s life by implementing self-esteem, courage, and positive values through all of our educational programs.

Our Boys & Girls Clubs programs are directed by our trained staff and are specifically targeted to the following core areas:

PROGRAMS:

  • Character & Leadership Development –

Youth of the Month, Youth of the Year & Torch Club.
The Character & Leadership Development Programs empower youth to support and influence their Club & Community, sustain meaningful relationships, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and other’s cultural identities.

  • The Arts –

Arts & Crafts, Harmony Choir and Digital Arts.
The Arts Programs enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through increased knowledge and appreciation of visual and tactile arts and crafts, performing arts and creative writing.

  • Education and Career Development –

Power Hour, My Futures, Technology & Project Learn.
The Education and Career Development Programs enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines. The educational programs relate to everyday situations and help the children develop skills in technology to optimize opportunity.

  • Sports, Fitness, and Recreation –

The Sports, Fitness and Recreation Programs help members develop habits that nurture fitness, positive use of their leisure time, skills for stress management, an appreciation for the environment, and social and interpersonal skills.

  • Health & Life Skills –

SMART Moves, SMART Girls, Passport to Manhood, Gardening and Healthy Habits.
The Health and Life Skills develop the capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture the child’s well being. The activities teach them how to set personal goals and develop the competencies to live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
